We decided on the direction of this quarter’s magazine long before any of these things were plastered above the fold in our morning news. Long before dear sweet ‘Merica realized with a unified shrill that its beloved country was torn and disjointed, we’d already recognized our deep need for learning from one another, growing with each other, and creating intentional dialogue contributed by folks who don’t share the same level of melanin. Elisia has always been about women from all walks of life sharing their stories together with the world in one space. We’re not for one type of woman. That is our blessing. And it is our thorn.
This is the BLACK & WHITE edition - our contribution to the national narrative. Our visual ambition is to remind you that there is beauty in the containers that house our spirits, but at the end of it all, they’re just temporary vessels. And for right now, our plight is not to highlight all the things that make us wrong, but to lend our thoughts to what makes us…what makes her better. Because we can all stand to be a little & do a little better. Always.
